How to Reset Internet Explorer's Home Page

By Chris Miksen

The home page in Internet Explorer serves as the opening page when you first start the browser. You can add any page as your home page, but you may find that certain pages take longer to load. If you have a slow connection, such as dial-up internet, a home page that takes a long time to load can severely impact your browsing. You can choose to reset your home page the its original setting at any time.

Step 1

Launch the "Start" menu.

Step 2

Enter "Internet Options" in the search box and click "Internet Options."

Step 3

Click "Advanced" and "Reset." Click the check box next to "Delete personal settings."

Step 4

Click "Reset." Internet Explorer will show you the progress of the reset process. Once everything is complete, click "OK." Open Internet Explorer to view the default home page.
