How to Reset the Lamp Timer on a Panasonic

By Mary Lougee

Panasonic manufactures rear-projection televisions in several sizes for home entertainment. Rear-projection lamps install behind the screen to produce a picture on the screen that is bright and high definition. The projector lamps need changing when they no longer illuminate much. The TV has a display to show the remaining life of a lamp so you can install a replacement lamp before there is no picture on the screen. After installing a new lamp, you need to reset the lamp timer so that the display shows the correct amount of lamp life available.

Step 1

Press the "Power" button on the TV remote control to turn the Panasonic rear-projector TV on and display a picture on the screen.

Step 2

Press the "Menu" button. The "Main Menu" will appear on the screen. Press the "Option" button.

Step 3

Press the "Enter" button. The "Optional Menu" screen will appear. Press the button to select "Lamp Runtime."

Step 4

Press the "Enter" button and hold it for about three seconds. The "Lamp Runtime" will change to display "Time Reset (Power Off)."

Step 5

Press the "Power" button to turn the TV to the off position.

Step 6

Unplug the power cord from the electrical socket. Wait about one minute and plug the TV into the electrical socket.

Tips & Warnings

  • This process resets the lamp timer to the original Panasonic factory run-time of zero hours.
  • This process may vary slightly using a universal remote control. You may need to scroll through the main and optional menu screens with the up and down buttons to access the lamp's run-time feature.
