How to Reset the LG Rumor Phone

By Amy McClain

The Rumor is a slider style cell phone manufactured by LG Electronics. It features a built-in camera, Web browser and full slide out keyboard for fast text messaging. It is capable of downloading a variety of applications, which can come in handy for the user looking for an all in one mobile solution. These types of third party applications, however, can occasionally malfunction or cause issues with the Rumor. One way of troubleshooting issues with your Rumor is to perform a factory reset. This restores the phone to its original, out of the box settings.

Things You'll Need

  • LG Rumor device
  • Device security code

Step 1

Ensure your phone is powered on, then press the "Menu" button to access the Rumor's main menu. Using the phone's navigation pad, scroll to "Settings/Tools" and select it by pressing the center "Menu/OK" button.

Step 2

Scroll to "Settings" and select it. In the next menu, scroll to and select "More". Scroll to "Security" and press your "Menu/OK" button.

Step 3

Enter in your phone's security code when prompted. Select "Reset/Erase", then "Reset". A disclaimer will appear, informing you of the items that will be changed after the reset. Press the "Menu/OK" button, then highlight and select "Yes" to confirm the reset.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you do not know your lock code, try using the last four digits of your phone number or four zeros. If this is unsuccessful, contact your wireless provider for additional assistance.
