How to Reset Your Yahoo Password for Free
Yahoo! is a free Web mail service that offers unlimited storage and features an address book, a calendar, a notepad, Yahoo! Messenger chat and mobile text, and news, weather and other custom-updates. When you forget your password or it no longer works, Yahoo! provides a free reset feature to get you quickly back into your email account. Accessing and using this feature only requires that you know your Yahoo! ID and have a current, working alternate email address saved in your Yahoo! account profile.
Go to the Yahoo! Password Helper Web page.
Click the circle beside "I forgot my password" or "My password doesn't work" and then click the "Next" button.
Enter your Yahoo! ID -- the entire Yahoo! email address, including the "@yahoo.com" or "@ymail.com" part of the address. Enter the security code featured in the box and click the "Next" button.
Select an alternate email address from one or more that you have on file with Yahoo! from when you originally set up your account or from the last time that you updated your account information. Click "Next" to complete the request. If done correctly, a page will open instructing you to go to your alternate email address Inbox to retrieve the reset email.
Log in to your alternate email account. Open the Inbox and then the email from Yahoo!. Click the "Reset My Password" link in the body of the email.
Enter a new password when the window opens. Re-type the password to confirm it and then click "Next" to reset the password.
Return to the Yahoo! Login screen. Enter your Yahoo! ID and new password, and then click the "Sign In" button to open your account and confirm that the new password works.
