How to Restore a Deleted File

When you click "Delete" to throw away a file, you aren't actually deleting that file in the normal sense. For most programs, what you're doing is simply placing the file in the Recycle Bin on your PC. Files remain the Recycle Bin for a specified time and eventually they will be completely gone. Don't despair if you've deleted the wrong file, while the file is in the Recycle Bin you can retrieve it.

...
If you regret hitting the Delete key, get the file back.

Step

Double-click the Recycle Bin folder that sits on your desktop.

Step

Arrange the information to list the files by title. For example, if you know the name of the file you can click on the "Name" column to alphabetically sort the items by name.

Step

Highlight the file you wish to recover.

Step

Right-click the file and choose "Restore." This retrieves the file and puts it back in the folder that it was in prior to being deleted. If you don't remember where it was before you deleted it, perform a search for the file name.
