How to Restore an Internet Explorer Toolbar

By Denisa Gipson

Internet Explorer is a popular application used to browse the Internet. It's included on computers that contain Microsoft Windows. It has many features that you can customize. One of those is the ability to hide and view certain toolbars. The toolbars contained within Internet Explorer are Menu, Favorites, Command and Status.

Step 1

Open Internet Explorer by double-clicking the icon on your desktop that looks like a lower case "e" with a ring around it or by going to the Start menu and finding Internet Explorer under Programs and single-clicking on it.

Step 2

Click on "View" in the top-left corner.

Step 3

Move your cursor over "Toolbars" and click on the toolbar you want to restore. The toolbar will pop up.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you have no toolbars showing, right click somewhere in the space near the top of your browser and access the same menu that is in the Toolbars menu under View.
  • Choose "Lock the Toolbars" under the Toolbars menu to lock the toolbars in place. Do not check this option if you want to be able to move them around.
