How to Restore Spider Solitaire to Microsoft Game Panel

By Leonardo R. Grabkowski

Spider Solitaire is a game included with Windows operating systems. The object of the game is to eliminate your deck in as few plays as possible. Because Spider Solitaire is a Windows-installed component, it is easily removed and reinstalled--although it is necessary to have your Windows disc when restoring Spider Solitaire for Windows XP (Vista does not require the disk). You can also restore other Windows games during the process.

Things You'll Need

  • Windows disc (if restoring to XP)

Windows XP

Step 1

Open your CD-ROM drive and insert your Windows XP disc. Click "Start" and open "Control Panel."

Step 2

Click on "Add or Remove Programs" twice to open it. Choose "Add or Remove Windows Components" in the next menu.

Step 3

Select "Accessories and Utilities" to expand the folder, then "Details."

Step 4

Choose "Games" to expand the games folder. Place a check next to "Spider Solitaire." Click "Ok" twice, then "Next," to restore the Spider Solitaire game to your computer.

Windows Vista

Step 1

Click on the "Start" menu and open "Control Panel." Select "Programs."

Step 2

Select "Turn Windows Features On or Off." Click on the "Plus" symbol next to "Games."

Step 3

Place a check next to "Spider Solitaire." Click "Ok." You'll see a notice that says "this may take several minutes." When it closes, Spider Solitaire is restored to your computer.
