By Art Corvelay

You can restore your computer to factory settings using different methods. One way is to format your hard drive and reinstall the operating system on your computer. However, Dell makes the factory restore process simple by providing their computers with a recovery partition. You simply need to boot your Dell Inspiron to the recovery partition to restore it back to factory settings.

Step 1

Boot your computer to the Dell Recovery Partition. To do this, restart your computer and hold down the "F8" button before the Windows logo appears.

Step 2

Select "Repair Your Computer" in the "Advanced Boot Options" window. Use the arrow keys on your Dell Inspiron to select the option and then press "Enter."

Step 3

Choose your language settings when prompted and then click "Next."

Step 4

Click the check box next to "Yes, reformat hard drive and restore system software to factory condition."

Step 5

Click "Next" and your Dell Inspiron E1505 is restored to factory settings.

Step 6

Click "Finish" once the system is restored. Your computer is now in the condition it was when you first purchased it.
