How to Retrieve Contacts on a Droid

By Chris Miksen

As a Droid owner, it's an awful feeling to know that all of your phone contacts have been erased or lost after wiping your phone or buying a new one. All is not lost, though, as Google automatically stores your contacts in your Gmail account. You can retrieve lost contacts by simply syncing your Gmail with your phone. All Droid owners must have a Gmail account to use all of the features on the phone.

Step 1

Press the "Menu" button and tap "Settings."

Step 2

Touch "Accounts and Sync."

Step 3

Select your Gmail account and touch "Sync Contacts." Your Droid will sync with your Gmail account and your contacts will appear in your contacts list within five minutes.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can also sync your Facebook contacts as well, by selecting "Facebook" instead of your Google Mail account.
