How to Run Skype Through a LAN Connection
Skype is a popular online communication program that can be used on any computer with an Internet connection, including a LAN connection. With Skype, you can communicate with other individuals from around the world that share the Skype service, not only via call or chat, but also through video conference. Skype runs exactly the same on any computer, so setting up and running Skype on a LAN connection takes just a few minutes.
Open the Internet brower on your LAN-based computer and navigate to Skype's web page.
Choose the "Get Skype" option, then click the download link next to the computer type you are using -- Mac or PC. A prompt will appear on the screen, asking if you are sure you want to download the program. Select "Yes." Skype will begin to download to your computer.
Double-click the downloaded file, then follow the prompts of the installation wizard that loads onto the screen until the Skype program loads onto your computer.
Choose to create a new user, then select a user name and password and enter in all other required information, such as name and email address. Submit the information, and Skype will log you into your new account.
