How to Save Contacts to a SIM Card for a BlackBerry

By Michaele Curtis

Subscriber identity module (SIM) cards allow GSM wireless carriers such as AT&T, T-Mobile and Rogers to connect their handsets to their networks. The SIM card can also save information to it for transfer from handset to handset. For example, if you have contact information on your BlackBerry and want to transfer that to your new phone, you can copy your contacts to the SIM card.

Step 1

Press the Menu key on your BlackBerry smartphone to access the Applications screen. Click “Phonebook.”

Step 2

Browse your BlackBerry’s contacts. Highlight the one you want to save to your SIM card.

Step 3

Press the Menu key again. Click “Copy to SIM Phone Book.”

Step 4

Press the Menu key again. Click “Save.”

Tips & Warnings

  • Your BlackBerry smartphone holds more contacts than your SIM card can, so it may not be possible to transfer all of your BlackBerry’s contacts to the SIM. In addition, your SIM card can hold basic contact information but other address book fields, such as birthdays or notes, will not come over in the transition.
  • These instructions can vary according to your BlackBerry’s specific model. If you have questions about your specific BlackBerry model, consult your phone’s user guide or contact your mobile service provider for more information.
