How to Save Files on a Sandisk Micro USB Flash Drive

Flash drives are very handy and convenient. Storing information and files on a Sandisk Micro USB flash drive can be very easy, and you can take your files along with you anywhere. Flash drives also offer a good way to back up your files for safekeeping.

Things You'll Need

  • USB port
  • Sandisk Micro USB Flash Drive

Step 1

Turn on your computer and open the folder for the files that need to be saved to a flash drive.

Step 2

Plug the Sandisk Micro USB flash drive into the USB port on your computer. Your computer should automatically recognize the new "hardware" and begin installing any drivers needed for basic operation for the flash drive.

Step 3

Once the installation is complete, click on the "My Computer" or "Computer" icon on your desktop. If the icon is not there, you may also find it in the Start menu.

Step 4

Double click the drive that shows your "removable disk," which is the Sandisk flash drive.

Step 5

Click back to the folder with the files that need to be saved on the flash drive. Click and hold each file while dragging and dropping it onto the flash drive folder.

Step 6

Go to the bottom task bar and click to open the Sandisk flash drive icon. This will open a window that allows you to "safely remove hardware" from your computer. Click "stop" to end the device and then safely unplug the Sandisk flash drive.

  • Safely removing the flash drive from your USB protects the files when you unplug and remove the drive.
