How to Save From Scribd

By Deborah Walker

Scribd.com is a social reading and publishing website that reaches 60 million people and offers free membership. Members can create profiles of their current reading material and works they uploaded or purchased, maintain a private or public bookshelf and organize reading materials. Members can also share their readings and bookshelves with their Twitter followers or Facebook friends. Not all material is downloadable; the material that is not may be a commercially published work. If that is the case, a link to purchase the work will appear on its Scribd.com page.

Step 1

Navigate to the Scribd.com website. Log in with your Facebook account. If you do not have a Facebook account or do not want to use your Facebook account, you can sign up with your email address.

Step 2

Enter the topic you want to read about into the search bar at the top of the home page. Click on one of the results and you will be taken to its page.

Step 3

Click on the "Download" button in the scrolling toolbar at the bottom of the page. You must be logged in to download documents. Not all Scribd.com documents are downloadable. If a document is not downloadable, it will have a red slash mark through the "Download" button.

Step 4

Select the pdf or text download format from the pop-up box that appears. Another pop-up box will appear asking where you want to save the document or if you just want to read it. Select "Save." Remember where you are saving it so you can find it easily. Your document will then automatically download to your computer.
