How to Scan Multiple Pages on My Canon MX310

By Steven Symes

The Canon Pixma MX310 not only works as a printer, but can scan original documents to save an electronic version on the attached computer. You will need to plug the printer and computer together with a USB cable in order to use the printer's scanning capabilities. The scanning unit on the MX310 features an automatic document feeder on top of the printer, which will scan multiple pages itself. You can also choose to load documents on the scanning glass, which is covered by the scanner's lid.

Step 1

Turn on the printer by pressing the "Power" button until it illuminates and turn on the attached computer. Wait for the printer to finish its initialization process before continuing.

Step 2

Place the document face up in the automatic document feeder if the document's papers are uniform in size and fit in the feed tray. Adjust the paper-width guide to the size of the document's papers.

Step 3

Place the first page of the document face down on the scanning glass after you have lifted the scanning unit's cover, if you choose to not use the automatic document feeder. Close the cover again slowly so the document does not shift on the glass.

Step 4

Press the "Scan" button on the printer's control panel, then press either "Black" or "Color," depending on the type of scan you would like to perform.

Step 5

Retrieve the scanned document from the automatic document feeder's output tray once the scan job is over. Otherwise, click on the "Yes" button on the computer's screen, indicating you would like to scan another page.

Step 6

Lift the scanning unit's cover, remove the document from the scanning glass and place the next page of the document face down on the glass. Close the scanner's cover and click on the "OK" button on the screen to scan the next page. Repeat this process until all of the document's pages have been scanned.
