How to Send a Phone Request Through Facebook

By Carolyn Luck

Facebook members who want to connect directly with friends can request phone numbers through the service. For those times when spoken contact is preferred, you can request a friend's numbers, if the proper privacy settings are in place. Whether you want to catch up with an old friend or get to know a new one, you can request phone numbers in just a few steps.

Facebook

Step 1

Log in to your Facebook account, and go to your home page.

Step 2

Scroll to the right and click the "Friends" link in the upper toolbar.

Step 3

Scroll through the list of friends and click the name of the friend that you want to send the phone number request to. Click the "Request Friend's Phone" link. Click "Yes" in the resulting box.

Facebook Mobile Web

Step 1

Open a Web browser on your phone and go to m.facebook.com to access the Facebook Mobile Web. Sign in to your Facebook account.

Step 2

Click the "Friends" button in the upper toolbar to view your Facebook Mobile Web friends page.

Step 3

Scroll to the friend whose phone number you want. Click the "Read More" option located at the top of the mobile profile page. If privacy settings allow, you can view that friend's available phone number in the "Contact Information" section.

Tips & Warnings

  • When using Facebook Mobile Web, there is no phone request option; you only have access to phone numbers listed in a profile that your friend wants to reveal. If the member's phone number is not visible due to privacy settings, you can send a message requesting the phone number.
