How to Send a Text Message From Email to a Cell Phone
Text messages are short, text-based notes that you can send from your cell phone to communicate with others. If you don't have your cell phone available or want to avoid text messaging charges from your service provider, you can send text messages through your email account. An email sent to a cell phone is shown as a text message in the recipient's phone.
Open your email client on your computer or phone. Select the option to compose a new message.
Enter your recipient's 10-digit cell phone number. Do not enter any dashes or other special characters.
Look up your recipient's email domain by determining which service provider is associated with the cell phone (see Resources below). Add the email domain after the 10-digit phone number. For example, an email sent to a Verizon Wireless cell phone should look like firstname.lastname@example.org.
Enter your text message into the body of your email. Your message should be less than 160 characters to ensure your recipient will be able to read the entire message.
Click the "Send" button to send your email as a text message to the recipient. Your text message will be delivered to the intended cell phone.
