How to Send a Text Message to a Verizon Wireless Customer From Your Computer
If you want to send a text message to a Verizon Wireless customer, you can do so at no charge using your computer. You need nothing more than Internet access and the recipient's Verizon phone number.
From Verizon Website
Log onto the Verizon Wireless text messaging website.
Submit a message. In the box labeled "Send To," type in the phone number of the person you are texting. The numbers should run together without any punctuation (for example, 1234567890).
Type in the message you wish to send in the box labeled "Your Message." For an online message, you can submit only 160 characters.
Note the three other boxes where you can type in information. In the box labeled "From," you could type in a name. In the box labeled "Reply to Address," you could type in a number or email address. In the box labeled "Callback Number," you can put any phone number. These boxes do not have to be filled out if you do not wish to do so.
Change the priority from "Normal" to "Urgent" if the message is urgent.
Click "Send." You'll be asked to type in a short verification code. Once you do that, you can submit your message.
Track your message if desired. Verizon allows you to do this simply by keeping the browser open. By manually refreshing the Web page, you can find out when the message was delivered to the phone number or whether there was any problem with the delivery.
From an Email Account
Log into your email account.
Type in the 10-digit phone number of the person you wish to text, followed by @vtext.com.
Type your message in the body of the email, up to 160 characters.
