How to Send an SMS Through GoDaddy

By Nachiket Deshmukh

GoDaddy is a company that mainly offers website domain registration services along with website hosting, email and other features for individuals and businesses. A user can send emails as well as SMS (short messaging system) text messages through GoDaddy's email services. This feature is useful to use to get in touch with contacts faster than through email when contacts are not near a computer.

Things You'll Need

  • GoDaddy web hosting and email account

Step 1

Log in to your web-based email account from the GoDaddy website link mentioned in the resources section.

Step 2

Click the "Contacts" link from "Address Book" menu and select the check box next to a contact to whom you wish to send an SMS. Click on the "Edit Contact" link to open the "Edit Contact Information" page.

Step 3

Click the "Personal" tab located near top of the screen on the "Edit Contact Information" page and enter a 10-digit cell phone number including area code in the "Text Message Phone" section. Select a cell phone carrier--for example, AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon Wireless.

Step 4

Click the "OK" button to save the contact's phone number information.

Step 5

Click the "Compose" link and type a message of up to 160 characters in text box. Click the "Send as: Email" link in upper-right corner of the screen and select "Text Message."

Step 6

Click the "Send" button, which will send the typed message as SMS to the contact's phone.

Tips & Warnings

  • The email to SMS feature can only be used for U.S. phone numbers.
