How to Send Bulk Email to Multiple Recipients Undisclosed

By B. Steele

Listing recipients' email addresses in the Blind Carbon Copy (BCC) field in your email program while only listing your own email in the "To" field effectively hides all addresses from everyone in the list. Recipients will receive an email visibly addressed only to you. Most webmail interfaces and desktop email clients list BCC below the "To" field, but in some cases, you'll need to adjust a setting in order to see it.

Tips & Warnings

  • Entering all recipients in the BCC field also prevents people from accidentally clicking "Reply-All" and bombarding list members with unwanted email.
  • Using Blind Carbon Copy does not ensure absolute privacy. Mail server administrators and highly skilled "civilians" may be able to recover BCC recipient lists through various means, so use this feature with caution.
