How to Send Bulk Mail Using Gmail
Gmail has a feature that allows you to send bulk mail to a group of people vs. having to send out individual emails. This feature can save you hours of having to type one email address in at a time. Many Gmail users might not be aware of this feature or how to use it correctly.
Log in to your Gmail account using your email address and password.
Click "Contacts" from the menu list in the left-hand corner of your homepage.
Click on the plus sign with two graphic people next to it. It is in the upper left-hand corner. There is a plus sign with one person first, then the plus sign with two people. This button allows you to create a new group.
Name your group and submit it. Common names are "Family Members," "Friends," "Co-workers" or "Business Contacts." Once you click "Submit," the name of the group will pop up on the screen in a list.
Select "All Contacts" from your list. This is where all of your contacts have gone if you have not separated them in to groups. A list of all of your contacts will appear.
Check off the individuals you want to put in a particular group by clicking your mouse in the empty box next to each one's name. When you are done, click on "Groups" to the right of the list. A drop-down menu will appear that will say "Add to...," then click the name of the folder you added, and that will insert the contacts within that folder, which can now be emailed all together.
Click on the group you want to send a bulk email to. It will show up with all of the email addresses, and you can click individuals or "select all." To the right of this list is the word "email." Click that, then a new mail screen will pop up with everyone in the group's email addresses in the "To" section.
Type a subject. Then type your message and click "send."
Tips & Warnings
- If you don't want all of the group members to see everyone else's email addresses, copy and paste them into the BCC (blind carbon copy) box.
- Never use your bulk mail to send spam. This will get reported and you could lose your account.
