How to Send Multiple Text Messages on an Android Phone

By Jason Spidle

The short messaging service (SMS) application in Android-based smart phones can be used to send text messages to multiple different recipients by specifying multiple contacts or phone numbers. Unfortunately, the process is not streamlined and you will need to enter the contacts or phone numbers one by one. But the interface provides a straightforward method for inputting recipients so that you can send multiple copies of a text message in a few simple steps.

Step 1

Tap the "Messaging" icon on your Android device home screen.

Step 2

Tap the "Compose Message" located at the top of your screen.

Step 3

Tap the "To" field and type the name or number of the first contact to include in text message delivery. If the contact is in your address book, you can tap their name when it is displayed in the auto-complete drop-down menu.

Step 4

Tap the "To" field again when you have added the first contact to add additional contacts, repeating this step for each contact you want to include in message delivery.

Step 5

Tap the compose field and type your text message.

Step 6

Tap "Send" at the bottom of the screen to send the message to the multiple contacts specified.
