How to Send Text to a Verizon Phone
If you find yourself at your computer and you want to send someone a text message but you don't have access to your cellphone, you can send one from your PC. Wireless carriers, such as Verizon Wireless, have what are called "SMS gateways." These gateways take the messages sent via email and send them to the Verizon customer's phone. To do this, you need to know the intended recipient's Verizon cellphone number.
Things You'll Need
- Intended recipient's Verizon wireless number
Send Text From Computer
Open your email program and click on "New" or "Compose" to create a new message.
Type the recipient's Verizon Wireless number in the "To" bar. The phone number must include the area code, but do not include any spaces or dashes.
Type "@vtext.com" immediately after the cellphone number. The "To" bar should read something similar to "email@example.com".
Type your email message, and then hit "Send."
Send Text From Cell
Power on your cellphone and go to "Messages."
Select the "New Message" option, and then select "Text Message."
Type in your message in the message window.
Click "Send," and at this point an entry field will appear in which you can enter the recipient's Verizon phone number. On some phone models, this step appears before typing the text message.
Type in the recipient's Verizon Wireless phone number without any spaces, including the area code. Hit "Send."
