How to Set Animated Wallpaper

Animated wallpaper is wallpaper that has 3-D qualities and features moving action. It is not static like a regular wallpaper and enhances your desktop by providing a screen saver and wallpaper all in one. Once you have downloaded an animated wallpaper to your computer, you have to set it as your wallpaper before you can begin enjoying it.

In Windows XP

Step 1

Click the "Start" button.

Step 2

Click "Control Panel." Click "Display."

Step 3

Click the "Desktop" tab. Click on the animated wallpaper from the "Background" list. Click "Apply." Click "OK."

In Windows Vista

Step 1

Click the "Start" button. Click "Control Panel."

Step 2

Click "Appearance and Personalization." Click "Personalization."

Step 3

Click "Desktop Background." Select the aninmated wallpaper from the drop-down menu. Click "Apply" and then "OK."

In Windows 7

Step 1

Right-click an empty area on the desktop. Click "Personalize."

Step 2

Click "Desktop Background." Select the animated wallpaper from the drop-down menu.

Step 3

Click "OK" and then close the Personalize window.

Tips & Warnings

  • Animated wallpapers are installed on your computer like programs, so if you want to remove one you do so through the "Programs and Features" menu.
  • Animated wallpapers might slow your computer's performance since they are always running in the background and require more virtual memory than a static wallpaper.
