How to Set DPI in Publisher

By Ann Johnson

Microsoft Publisher is a popular software program that enables the user to create newsletters, brochures, catalogs and flyers. When you print your document, you have the option of changing your DPI setting. The DPI is how many dots per inch at which your printer prints. To print a higher-quality page, choose a higher DPI. If you want to print a draft that doesn’t require high quality, choose a lower DPI.

Step 1

Click on the “File” link in the upper left-hand corner of the menu bar.

Step 2

Click on “Print” in the drop-down menu that appears when you click the “File” link.

Step 3

Click on “Properties” in the menu that has popped up.

Step 4

Click on the “Paper/Quality” tab on the menu that has popped up.

Step 5

Make your DPI choice by going to the drop-down menu below “Print Quality.” Select the choice you want, such as “Fast Draft” or “Normal.” This will change the DPI setting.

Step 6

Click “OK” to close the pop-up menu window. You will now have the option to print your document by clicking “OK” in the print pop-up menu.
