How to Set Single Spacing in Microsoft Word 2007

By Erika Dean

By default, the line spacing in Word 2007 documents is set to 1.5 spacing. Changing a document to single spacing is quite simple. You can single-space an entire document or just a section of text in a Word document.

Step 1

Open the Word document in which you want to set single spacing. If you want to apply single spacing to only a section of the document, highlight that text. If you don't highlight any text, the text you type in your document will automatically be single spaced.

Step 2

Click "Home" from the toolbar, and then "Paragraph."

Step 3

Click the "Line Spacing" button located next to the "Justify" button to view line spacing options.

Step 4

Select "1.0" from the list of spacing options to set the document to single spacing.
