How to Set Up Email Alerts
If you would like to be alerted when you have a new email, there are several ways that you can do this. Depending on the type of email program you have and on what other types of Internet programs you are using, you can easily sign up for email alerts so you'll know when you've got a new email. You can also sign up for email alerts when things have been posted online.
Go into your email program and click "settings" or "tools." Look for a tab or option labeled "alerts."
Click on the link to set up email alerts if your email program has them.
Download a specific program, like MSN chat or Gmail Chat, both of which have email alerts built into them. When you are logged into these programs, your new emails will show up in the corner of your screen.
Alerts for Posted Items
Go to the website, blog, or location that you would like to receive email alerts for. You might choose news sites like CNN or Yahoo! News, or you might choose search sites like Google or Yahoo!. You might also go to someone's personal blog, a company's website or any other place that updates their site.
Look for an "email alerts" link somewhere on the page. If the particular page you are looking at has an email alert function you can sign up for, the link will be available on the page.
Click the link and put in your email. Click "OK" or "Submit". Once you have done so, the site will send you an email alert when there is something worth checking out on it.
