How to Set Up the Remote Desktop Connection in Windows 7

By Sharon Harp

Windows 7 includes the Remote Desktop application, which gives your computer the ability to receive incoming Remote Desktop Connection attempts so that another person can remotely control your computer from another location. If you want to set up your computer for Remote Desktop Connections, you need to enable this setting in the system menu.

Step 1

Open the Start Menu, then right-click on the "Computer" icon.

Step 2

Click "Properties."

Step 3

Click the "Remote Settings" link.

Step 4

Click the "Allow connections from computers running any version of Remote Desktop" option, then click "Select Users."

Step 5

Type in the user account names you want to allow access to the computer, then click "OK" twice.
