How to Share on Dropbox

File sharing is a main feature of the Dropbox service that links users to your shared folder on the Dropbox service for seamless transfers between computers. In order to access your account, outside users must have the Dropbox program installed on their computers, which enables access to the service and your account. Dropbox is free for users who want to link to your account and provides unlimited downloading from your shared folder.

Share from Computer

Step 1

Click the "Dropbox" icon in the upper-right corner of the Macintosh menu bar, and then click "Open Dropbox Folder." On a PC, right-click the "Dropbox" icon on the task bar in the bottom-right corner of the screen, and then click "Open Dropbox Folder."

Step 2

Hold "Control" on your keyboard, and then click the folder located in your "Dropbox" folder. Move your cursor to "Dropbox" in the pop-up menu. Click "Share This Folder."

Step 3

Type the email address of the person you wish to share the folder with, and then click "Share Folder."

Share from Website

Step 1

Visit the Dropbox page (see Resources). Click "Log In." Type the email address and password that is linked to your Dropbox account, and then click the "Log In" button.

Step 2

Locate the folder you wish to share in the account window. Click the triangle button located on the far right of the folder's tab.

Step 3

Click "Share this folder" on the pull-down menu. Type the email address of the person you wish to link to your account.

Step 4

Click "Share Folder" to complete the process.
