With Sprint ,you pay a monthly service fee in addition to any overages you may incur. However, if you do not use your Sprint service very often, there is no need to pay a monthly fee. You may want to use a pay-as-you-go service, such as Boost Mobile. With Boost Mobile, you pay for minutes in advance, allowing you to buy and add minutes to your plan whenever you choose.
Wait to switch your Sprint service until your contract is nearly up. Switching service providers when you have a contract is expensive. Sprint charges more than $100 to cancel your contract.
Stop by a local Boost Mobile service center. Request to transfer your current cell phone number over to Boost. Perform this task with a week or so left on your contract. If your Sprint contract expires before going into Boost, you lose your phone number and may not be able to get it back.
Choose the new phone you want to use with Boost Mobile and purchase the amount of minutes you want for the time being. Once you purchase your minutes, the telephone number is ported over to your new Boost Mobile service.
