How to Sync an iPod to a Bluetooth Device

iPods come with a set of wired headphones that can be connected to your player to listen to music while you're on-the-go. In addition to working with wired headsets, iPod Touches can also work with Bluetooth devices such as wireless headphones and speaker systems. Before you can use a Bluetooth device with your iPod, you need to pair the two devices together; once paired, the two will be permanently connected, with no need to repeat the pairing process in the future.

Wired headphones aren't the only way to listen to music on your iPod.

Step

Power on your Bluetooth device and place it near your iPod.

Step

Press the "Settings" button on the home screen of your iPod to launch the settings menu.

Step

Select "General" from the options that appear, followed by "Bluetooth."

Step

Slide the switch at the top of the Bluetooth menu to the "On" position if it currently says "Off." Your iPod will now search for all of the Bluetooth devices currently powered on near it, and list them on the screen.

Step

Select your headphones or speakers from the list of items that appears on the screen, and when prompted enter the pairing code for your headphones into your iPod. The pairing code is a small series of numbers that can be found either on your Bluetooth device or its instruction book.

Step

Click the "Save" button at the top of the screen when you are done entering the pairing code in order to complete the pairing process and start using your Bluetooth device with your iPod.
