How to Sync iTunes With Windows Media Player

By Stephen Lilley

To sync iTunes' music libraries with Windows Media Player, both programs will have to contain identical databases of the music at all times. This can be accomplished by adjusting the settings in Windows Media Player. Unlike iTunes, Windows Media Player constantly monitors a specified directory for new music. By adding the iTunes directory to Windows Media Player, the two programs will always be in sync.

Things You'll Need

  • ITunes
  • Windows Media Player

Step 1

Double-click on the Windows Media Player icon.

Step 2

Right-click inside the toolbar at the top of Windows Media Player. Click "File" and "Manage Libraries."

Step 3

Click "Music."

Step 4

Click "Add." Add the library where your iTunes music is stored to Windows Media Player. This is the directory that was selected when iTunes was initially installed. Click "OK." iTunes and Windows Media Player will be synced.
