How to Take a Snapshot of a PDF File

By Mitchell White

The file type "PDF" is short for "Portable Document Format." If you want to take a snapshot of a particular section of a PDF and save it as an independent file, you can do so using a native tool inside of the Windows operating system. You can use the native program Microsoft Paint to save your PDF snapshot as a BMP file.

Step 1

Double-click on the PDF file to open it in your PDF reader.

Step 2

Scroll down in the document until you reach the part you want to copy.

Step 3

Click "File" in the program and select Create PDF." Click "From Screen Capture." This will take a snapshot of the current screen and save it as a PDF file. You can also select "From Window Capture" to only snapshot the current open PDF window and not anything else on-screen.
