How to Track a Parcel Post With USPS

By Tiffany Raiford

Parcel Post delivered by the United States Postal Service (USPS) is a piece of mail that you can track from its point of origin to its delivery destination, whether you are the shipper or the recipient. When Parcel Post is shipped it is given a tracking number which you can use to find out where your package is located. The process of tracking a shipment through USPS is simple; you can do it on your computer 24 hours a day.

Step 1

Get the tracking number of your Parcel Post from the postal receipt given to you at the time of shipment, or contact the shipper of the item for the tracking number. If you ordered an item online, the company from which you purchased the item will provide the tracking number in a shipping email.

Step 2

Go to the USPS website ( and click on the "Track and Confirm" link on the main page.

Step 3

Enter your tracking number into the box provided. Tracking numbers contain both letters and numbers. Click "Track" and view the shipment history of your item. You can see when and where it was shipped, where it has been, where it currently is and when it is scheduled to arrive at its final destination.
