How to Transfer Favorites From One Nuvi to Another
Over time, you will probably save many points of interests, destinations or waypoints to your Favorites menu on your Garmin Nuvi. When you purchase a new Garmin Nuvi, you will unfortunately not have all of your Favorites stored in the new GPS. This can be a major disadvantage if you are a person that utilizes the locations often. Fortunately, all favorites are stored in the same file. This file can be transferred to the new Nuvi.
Things You'll Need
- USB cable
Connect the Garmin Nuvi with your favorites to the computer using the USB cable.
Click the desktop Start menu. Select the "Computer/My Computer" folder.
Double-click the Garmin drive. Double-click the "GPX" folder.
Right-click the "current.gpx" file and select "Copy."
Find an empty place on your desktop and right click again. This time select "Paste" from the menu. The current.gpx file will now be saved to your desktop.
Unplug the Garmin Nuvi GPS from the computer. Connect the other Garmin Nuvi to the computer using the USB cable.
Double-click the "Garmin" drive inside the "Computer/My Computer" folder. Locate the "current.gpx" file in the GPX folder and right-click it. Select "Delete." To backup the file first, right-click it and copy and paste it to a location (other than the desktop) on the computer. Make sure you don't mix it up with the old current.GPX file. Then delete current.gpx from the GPX folder.
Drag the older current.gpx file with your mouse from your desktop, and drop it into the "GPX" folder.
