How to Transfer Pictures From Email to a Picture Folder

By Melissa King

Your e-mail program is useful for more than just sending letters and text files. If you have interesting photos to share, most e-mail programs let you send as many as you want to friends and family. If you've received an e-mail that contains a picture you want to keep, consider saving it to your computer. On a Windows 7 computer, you can send e-mailed photos to your Pictures folder, where you're able to organize them for later viewing.

Step 1

Sign in to your e-mail program and open the e-mail that contains a picture you want to save.

Step 2

Right-click on the picture, then choose "Save as," "Save image" or "Save image as," depending on your e-mail program and browser. The "Save Image" window opens.

Step 3

Click the scroll bar on the left side of the window, and drag it down to the "Libraries" heading. Click "Pictures."

Step 4

Type a different name for the picture, if desired. This may help you find the picture more easily later.

Step 5

Click on "Save." The picture goes to your Pictures folder. To view it, click "Start," type "pictures" in the search bar, and then click on the "Pictures" heading.
