How to Transfer Zune to iTunes

By Dave Donovan

As of 2010, Apple's iPod was the best selling personal MP3 player of all time, but many Microsoft Zune owners would argue that it's not the best performing machine. But even those Zune owners concede that Apple's iTunes software is the better platform to use when they're listening to their collections on their computers. It is possible, however, for Zune owners to use iTunes software to play their "zunes." All you have to do is transfer your music collection from the Zune folder on your computer to your iTunes library.

Things You'll Need

  • iTunes software

Step 1

Click on "File" in the upper left hand corner of the iTunes program window.

Step 2

Click on "Add Folder to Library." This will open a directory window that allows you to search among the computer's directories to find your Zune folder.

Step 3

Click on the tab on the left hand side of the directory box that says "Music." A sub-folder called "Zune" should be here. This folder keeps a copy of all the music that's currently on your Zune.

Step 4

Double-click on the Zune folder. When it opens, you should see a number of folders, each one named after one of the artists on your Zune.

Step 5

Click on one of the folders so the name of the folder shows up in the box at the bottom of the window. Click "Select Folder." This will import all of the music contained in that folder into iTunes.

Step 6

Repeat Steps 3 through 7 until you have what you want of your Zune collection in your iTunes software.
