How to Troubleshoot a Blank Screen on an LG Cosmos

By Robert Kingsley

If you find your LG Cosmos displaying nothing but a blank screen, you can do some troubleshooting to pinpoint the problem. Your first reaction might be to panic and worry that your phone is broken, but that is not likely the case. The most likely cause is power-related. Your phone may be turned off, on standby, or the batteries may be depleted or dead. After charging the phone and turning it on, it's likely that you'll be greeted by the familiar home screen.

Step 1

Press and quickly release the "PWR/END" key on the top right corner of the keypad. If the LG Cosmos is in standby mode, it will turn back on.

Step 2

Press and hold the "PWR/END" key for approximately two seconds. If the phone is powered off, this will turn it back on.

Step 3

Slide the back cover up toward the top of the phone until it clicks free. Remove the cover and set it aside. Pry the top of the battery up with your fingernail and remove it from the phone. Wait a few seconds, then re-insert the battery and slide the back cover into place. Press the "PWR/END" key. If your phone was locked up by an error condition, this should get it working again.

Step 4

Connect your phone's charger to a power source. You can use a phone charger, a car charger or a USB cable. Leave the phone plugged in for at least five minutes and then press the "PWR/END" key. Your phone should now turn on.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your phone is still not functioning, leave it connected to the charger for one hour and try again. If the phone still doesn't work, take it to a Verizon store for professional service, as it may need to be repaired.
