How to Troubleshoot a Frozen Nook
The Nook, Barnes and Nobles' e-book reader, may freeze and become unresponsive. You may need to perform several troubleshooting steps to fix the freezing problem on the Nook, such as cycling the power, removing the battery and powering it up without the battery. The problem should clear up after one of these methods, unless the hardware itself is at fault.
Things You'll Need
- Phillips-head screwdriver
Press the Nook's power button. Hold it for 20 seconds to force the unit to shut down.
Turn the Nook back on to determine if it is still frozen.
Remove the power adapter or USB cable from the Nook. Turn it back off. Turn the Nook over and remove the screw from the back of the device. Slide the battery panel off of the Nook and pull the battery out of the unit.
Connect the Nook to the power adapter and power it on. The freezing issue should be fixed and your Nook should respond properly. Reinsert the battery and charge it to full before removing it from power.
