How to Troubleshoot Blinking on the Sony KDS-60A3000

By Aaron Wein

The Sony Bravia model number KDS-60A3000 includes three different blinking light messages indicating an error on the television. For instance the "Lamp" LED light may continuously blink red letting you know the television's lamp is near the end of its lifespan. Or after installing the lamp the same LED may blink six times indicating you have not properly installed your new lamp. Lastly, if your Bravia's "Power" LED flashes red seven your television is not ventilated properly. Take the appropriate steps to fix each of these unique problems.

Things You'll Need

  • Sony XL-5200 replacement lamp
  • Flathead screw driver
  • Duster

Lamp LED Blinks Red Continuously

Step 1

Turn off the television and wait two minutes. The cooling fans run for approximately two minutes after powering off.

Step 2

Unplug the Bravia's AC cord from its power outlet. Wait at least another 30 minutes to give the lamp time to cool off.

Step 3

Press both the tabs on the Bravia's lamp cover, positioned on the rear of the television and pull off the cover. This reveals the lamp door.

Step 4

Turn the lamp door's screw left using the Flathead screw driver. The lamp door's lock, located to the right of the screw, loosens.

Step 5

Slide the lamp door's lock left and pull the door open. This reveals the lamp's mount.

Step 6

Pull the lamp's cable, located at the bottom right, straight out of its power plug in port.

Step 7

Grasp the two finger grooves on the left and right of the lamp's mount and pull it out of the Bravia. This removes the old mount and lamp from the Bravia.

Step 8

Install the new lamp in place of the old one, pushing it straight into the television until it makes a clicking noise. Plug the new lamp's cable into the power port inside the lamp's bay.

Step 9

Reinstall the lamp's door, cover and plug the AC cable back in to the power outlet. Turn the television on.

Step 10

Press "Home" on your Bravia's remote and use the navigation arrow on the remote to move to the Settings area.

Step 11

Scroll down to "General" and press "+." The General menu appears.

Step 12

Scroll to "Lamp Replacement" and press "+." Follow the remaining on-screen prompts to finish setting up the new lamp.
