How to Tune My Vizio LCD TV
The Vizio makes many televisions including LCDs. To watch your Vizio television, you must tune or setup the TV so it can interpret the signal being transferred from an antenna, cable, DVD player or game console. When you tune the Vizio with an antenna or cable outlet directly, the TV will scan for channels. When plugging in an external device such as a cable box or Xbox, the Vizio doesn't have to scan for channels, it just needs to be tuned into the device so it can display the picture coming in from that devices input.
Things You'll Need
- Appropriate connection cables (e.g., HDMI, RCA or coaxial)
- Remote control
Tune Channels From a Antenna or Cable Source
Connect the signal source (coaxial cable from the wall or antenna) into the "DTV/TV RF" or coaxial port on the rear of the Vizio LCD TV.
Turn on the Vizio TV and press the "Menu" button on the remote control.
Select language when prompted (e.g., English or Espanol). Press the right-facing arrow navigation button to go to the next screen.
Press the up or down arrow navigation buttons to select either "Cable" or "Antenna." Press the right-facing arrow to continue.
Press the right-facing arrow again to scan for channels. When scanning is complete, press the right-facing arrow to leave the setup process.
Tune Channels From an External Signal Source
Connect the device to the Vizio LCD TV with a compatible cable. For example, a laptop may connect to the TV with an HDMI cable. A cable box may connect with a coaxial cable or set of RCA cables. Find the matching connection on the Vizio TV and insert the cable.
Select the "Input" button on the remote and select the input (e.g., HDMI 1) that the device is connected to.
Power on the Vizio TV and press "Menu" on the remote control.
Select the language when prompted. Press the "Last" button to exit the setup menu.
Power on the external source device (e.g., cable box, dvd player or Xbox). You should be able to see the program or home screen for the device on the Vizio TV. If you connected the device to the TV with the RF connector, change the channel on the TV to 3 or 4.
