How to Turn Off AVG Pop-Up Blocker

By Andrew Meer

Web browsers such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer use pop-up blocking to prevent malicious webpages from opening automatically. As added protection, AVG Antivirus also uses a pop-up blocker called LinkScanner that works with most Web browsers. If you want to allow pop-up to open automatically, you must disable this pop-up blocker.

Step 1

Double-click the AVG icon on the desktop.

Step 2

Click the option labeled "Components" on the menu bar. Next click the "LinkScanner" option on the drop-down menu.

Step 3

Uncheck the boxes next to "Enable AVG Active Surf-Shield" and "Enable AVG Active Search-Shield".

Step 4

Click the button labeled "Save Changes" to disable the AVG pop-up blocker.
