How to Turn Off Site Advisor

By Kefa Olang

Site Advisor is a McAfee Antivirus program that adds safety ratings to your browser and search engine results. It installs on your browser as a separate entity and can be turned off or removed easily. Site Advisor tests websites for spyware, malware and scams to ensure that you are protected from malicious pages that deter computer performance. There are times when it sets the ratings too high and restricts legitimate websites. In this instance you may elect to turn it off.

Step 1

Click the McAfee icon on your web browser toolbar. Scroll down and click "Disable "Site Advisor." Relaunch your web browser. Move to the next step if you want to remove it completely.

Step 2

Click the Windows "Start" button and click the "Control Panel." Double-click "Add or Remove Programs" to open the programs window.

Step 3

Scroll down and click "Site Advisor." Click "Remove/Uninstall" to remove it from your computer.
