How to Turn Off the GPS Locator with an iPhone 4

By Julius Vandersteen

The iPhone 4, a cellular phone made by Apple, comes with GPS technology built in. It uses this to help locate your position as you move, by combining it with information from nearby Wi-Fi hotspots and cellular towers. GPS information allows you to do tasks such as orient yourself in an online map or find directions to a location. If you don't want the iPhone to track your location, you can easily disable the GPS feature.

Step 1

Press the "Home" button below the screen on your iPhone 4.

Step 2

Tap the "Settings" icon on the home screen.

Step 3

Tap "General."

Step 4

Tap "Location Services."

Step 5

Tap the "Location Services" option to "Off" to disable the GPS locator.
