How to Turn on Autoplay for XP on an iPhone

By Stephen Lilley

The Autoplay function of the Windows XP operating system is referred to as Autorun. This feature allows certain actions to perform automatically when you connect specific types of devices to your computer. For example, because your iPhone no doubt contains audio and video files, you can have Autorun give you the option to open up Windows Media Player or iTunes to play the files every time you connect your iPhone to your computer.

Step 1

Connect your iPhone to your computer.

Step 2

Click "Start" and "My Computer."

Step 3

Right-click your iPhone's icon. Click "Properties."

Step 4

Click "AutoPlay."

Step 5

Find the function that you want Windows to perform when you connect your iPhone to your computer. For example, if you want iTunes to open automatically when your iPhone is connected, select the "Open in iTunes" option from the drop-down menu. Click "OK" to save changes.
