How to Turn On Bluetooth Communications on a Laptop

By Cameron Easey

Bluetooth devices, such as a headset or a cell phone, can be used with your computer over a wireless connection. In order to use these types of devices, the Bluetooth connection on your laptop needs to be turned on and active. One way you can turn on the Bluetooth communications for your laptop is to enable the network connections option from the control panel.

Step 1

Click on the "Start" menu and select the "Control Panel" option.

Step 2

Double-click on the "Network Connections" icon.

Step 3

Click “Bluetooth Network Connection” under "Personal Area Network" to highlight it.

Step 4

Select the “Enable This Network Device” option on the left.

Step 5

Wait for your system to enable the Bluetooth connection. The status will change from "Disabled" to "Connected". The status will say "Disconnected" if there is no Bluetooth device connected to the laptop.
