How to Turn on My Blackberry Storm
The Blackberry Storm, also known as the 9530 or 9500 (yes, same phone, two model numbers), is a touch-screen smart phone that enables users to check their email and browse the Web from anywhere they have a signal on their cell phone. The Storm features 128 MB of built-in memory, has a GPS antenna and takes 3.2 megapixel digital photographs. Its rechargeable lithium-ion battery powers up to six hours of talk time and up to 15 days of standby time. There are two ways to turn on your Blackberry Storm smart phone.
Turn on Your Storm by Inserting the Battery
Remove the rear cover of the phone. The cover locks with two sliding mechanisms on either side of the bottom-rear of the cover. Slide both mechanisms up at the same time, toward the Blackberry logo on the cover, until the cover comes free.
Insert the battery. The green bar on the battery label should face outward and toward the center of the phone. Insert the end with the green bar first, then press in the other end.
Replace the rear cover. The tabs at the end of the cover fit into slots in the battery compartment toward the top of the phone. Insert the tabs in the slots, then press the bottom end firmly and it will snap into place. The phone will power on automatically.
Turn on Your Storm Using the Power Button
Hold your Blackberry Storm with the screen facing you and with the buttons at the bottom.
Locate the "Power" button. It is at the bottom-right of the phone as you face the screen. It has a red diagram of a phone receiver above a circle with a vertical line through the top.
Press and hold the "Power" button until the phone begins to power up. You will see an hourglass on the screen as the phone begins to power up.
Tips & Warnings
- Make sure your Blackberry Storm's battery is charged before you turn it on. Blackberries can take up to several minutes to fully power up.
