How to Unlock CDMA Codes for Samsung Cell Phones

By Chanel Adams

CDMA codes are short for Code Division Multiple Access codes. Unlike GSM phones that allow you to switch networks easily by inserting a SIM card, CDMA phones require you to use unlocking software. To use the software, you need to purchase it and download it to your computer. You also need to obtain an International Mobility Equipment Identification (IMEI) number, which you will use to receive your unlock code.

Things You'll Need

  • Unlocking software
  • IMEI number

Step 1

Search for unlocking software. Options include CDMA Software, Unlock to Talk or Cell Corner. (See Resources.)

Step 2

Pay for the software with a credit card, debit card or PayPal account. Download and install the software to your desktop. Restart your computer.

Step 3

Dial *#06# on your Samsung phone's keypad. This gives you the 15-digit IMEI code, which you will use to get an unlock code.

Step 4

Double-click the software on your desktop. Type your IMEI number, when prompted. Wait for the results to load.

Step 5

Attach one end of the data cable in your phone's input jack. Attach the other end in your desktop computer or laptop's USB port.

Step 6

Turn on your Samsung phone. Enter the unlock code provided on the software. Press the "OK" button. Look for the words, "Restriction Off," which mean you have an unlocked phone.
