How to Unprotect a Spreadsheet in Office 2007

Microsoft Office 2007 can protect an Excel spreadsheet from unauthorized changes. The "Review" tab on the command Ribbon includes a "Protect Sheet" button to restrict editing. You can opt to enter a password to allow users to unprotect the sheet. Clicking the "Unprotect Sheet" button releases the Excel spreadsheet for editing.

Things You'll Need

  • MS Office 2007

Step 1

Click on the "Review" tab on the command Ribbon.

Step 2

Click on the "Unprotect Sheet" button on the "Changes" group. The spreadsheet will be available for editing. If the spreadsheet is password protected, a dialog box entitled "Unprotect Sheet" will open.

Step 3

Enter the password, if applicable. Click on the "OK" button.
