How to Update Safari on My iPod

Safari is Apple's internet browser and the primary browser used on Apple devices such as iPods and iPhones. Updating Safari regularly is essential for ensuring maximum performance and for accessing new features and tools. It is advisable to manually check for updates at least once a month, or enable automatic updates so your iPod can download new updates regularly.

Things You'll Need

  • iPod connection cable

Step 1

Connect your iPod to your computer using the Apple iPod cable.

Step 2

Update iTunes if necessary. A pop up will prompt you to download the newest version.

Step 3

Click "Devices" in the Source List.

Step 4

Select your iPod.

Step 5

Click "Check For Updates" on the iPod summary page.

Step 6

Choose "Download and Install" if an update is available.

Step 7

Disconnect your iPod when the update is completed.

Tips & Warnings

  • To enable Automatic Updates, connect your iPod to the computer, and select "Options" from the iPod summary box. Untick "Manually manage songs and playlists."
  • Only sync your iPod with one computer. Connecting it to a different computer may delete your contents from the iPod.
