How to Upgrade An Existing Blu-ray Player

By Lindsay Howell

Unlike DVD players, Blu-ray players connect to the Internet to keep running at their optimum performance. This ensures that every Blu-ray disc runs properly and that all of its features run without any problem. To connect a Blu-ray player to the Internet, you need a broadband Internet connection and a Ethernet cable to connect the Blu-ray player to the Internet modem or router.

Things You'll Need

  • Ethernet cable

Step 1

Plug one end of an Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on the back of the Blu-ray player.

Step 2

Insert the other end of the Ethernet cable into the modem or router.

Step 3

Turn the Blu-ray player on. Go to the update section. Select the update function. The Blu-ray player downloads the newest firmware off the player's website. When the download is complete, the Blu-ray player restarts to make then necessary changes.
